"I worked with a Grade 7/8 class on some of the worksheets. The students really got engaged with the “Shopping the
Sale ” worksheet, partly because “Aeropostale” is really “in” right now (indeed, almost half of the girls in the class were WEARING something by Aeropostale on the day we did this!), and partly because the “on-line” prices quoted were quite a bargain compared to what students pay here! In addition to solving the questions on the worksheet, students wanted to extend the problems even further! (It’s not often you get to hear, “Can we do more math?” from Gr. 7s and 8s!)"

“Students were completely engaged in working together in a group to complete the task. It connected to something that they knew about (buying jeans).”

“The real life problems provide opportunities to have conversations about meaning that other "non contextual problems" would never allow. So far I love it! The only thing I've been doing in addition to what you guys already provide is expand and have EVEN more follow up questions to an activity. Adding on questions is the easy part once the rich context is provided though and that's what I love!.”

“They [the worksheets] have helped the students see that math is used outside of the classroom.”

“I try to use your worksheets as an opportunity for collaborative learning. 'Real lessons' for my students help them be intrigued by the math because it provides an answer to a problem they've encountered in their everyday life."

"These worksheets have not only eliminated prep time, but also allowed me the opportunity to use real life examples that incorporate current data and trends. No more making stuff up on a whim!"

“I want my students to think that I am teaching math for a reason, and what better way than to show them how to use it in actual situations."

“It is a more practical approach and without knowing it they really enjoy doing it.”
